HIT News: Healthcare IT Business in Healthcare Industry

The healthcare IT business is a pool full of EMR incentives only if you are ready to cash on and reap in the benefits. Everyone in the healthcare IT business is planning to take the advantage of the ARRA money to help in adopting and adapting to the protected health information (EMR) system. Isn’t it? However, it has not made such an explosion yet as was expected.

Going by the facts, the stats show that currently 10% of hospitals and 20% of physicians have adopted the EMR system. These figures show that even with so much stimulus money flowing in, physician practice has not been able to adopt EMR at a higher scale. But what are the roadblocks. There is this thick layer of awkwardness in the air when it comes to transformation technology in Healthcare IT industry. Why is there is reluctance? Why has healthcare industry guarded itself within walls? The only answer that one may forcefully derive is the way the physicians and doctors perceive it. May this denial phase is a way of avoiding the feeling of being controlled and monitored. So instead of embracing this shift in technology and earn incentives, they are still hiding themselves in their cocoons.

It is not the case that we do not have the means or tools of communication. But the problem is of negligence on our part. These tools are not used where they are supposed to be used. This system of miscommunication or non-communication may not affect you as adversely as it does on your patient. It is the patient who pays the real cost.

So to all the physicians and doctors, this is a reminder of the ‘Hippocratic’ oath. You pledged to put the patient’s interest before yours through EMR System, Then, why at this stage do you want to falter. Just be a more receptive and it would be a two way gain for you – satisfied patients and new arrivals. Not a bad bet at all!
